Home Birth 101
Is Home Birth safer than Hospital Birth? Yes, it can be. This class does not encourage unassisted home birth as a safe alternative, but under the care of a Certified Professional Midwife home birth is an option for those seeking a “normal” birth experinece for themself and their newborn.
Is Home Birth Legal? YES! You can give birth where ever YOU choose ... legally. The state of North Carolina does not license Certified Professional Midwives; therefore, the midwife who attends a home birth in our area is considered practicing medicine without a license. This will hopefully change soon, as in the States that surround us where licensure is possible! (Are North Carolinian women physiologically different than South Carolinian women? NO....we deserve the same rights!)
Is it possible to find a midwife in our area who attends home birth? Yes, and the sooner you get started on the process the better chance you will have finding a home birth midwife who has an opening the month you are due.
This course will provide information on home birth, how to find a midwife and how to prepare for a “normal“ birth experience.
This class costs $40 (plus tax)
Class is held on Thursday evening from 7:00-8:30pm
